Monk Out To Beat Rivals Cardiff

Swansea City captain Garry Monk is out to beat arch rivals Cardiff City and has declared the club have very little fear over the forthcoming season.

Expectation in the Swansea City camp should be high following wining the league one title last term but Monk who will relish the prospect of facing former employers Southampton firmly believes that the club will be the underdogs next season and will use the surprise element to their advantage.

Today Swansea City found out the fixtures for next seasons championship campaign and the South Wales club face a stern test at the Valley against Charlton on the opening day of the season. It is however the clash against the Bluebirds that has drawn the most interest. Knowing the full significance of the fixture against Cardiff City the defender is out to win the game

Monk Told The BBC:

"We really haven't got anything to fear. We are going to be pretty small fish in this league and probably the underdog in most of these games. We are going to have to use that to our advantage."

It's a really important game for the club and we understand everything that goes along with it, and the players don't want to lose either. Out of the two games, I'm really looking forward to the game down there. It's always nice if you can beat your rivals on their own patch."
