Martinez On Brink Of Triple Swoop

Swansea manger Roberto Martinez is poised to make a triple swoop in the transfer market to further strengthen the squad for next season.

Spanish defender Albert Serrán is a likely canidate to make the move to South Wales after new Espanyol manager Tintín Márquez released Serrán who made his first team début last season. Highly rated in Spain the 24 year old would join up with Jordi Gomez who signed on loan from los Periquitos for £100,000 and former Espanyol B striker Guillem Bauza. Despite Martinez's claims he had not formally declared an interest in securing the services of Serrán it firmly seems the defender is on a brink of a move to Swansea City.

Martinez Told The BBC:

"He is a defender that made his debut in La Liga this season and has played at international level with Spain. We have watched him a few times, he has a huge reputation and it doesn't go further than that."

What is clear is that the Spaniard does expect finalizing deals for three players in the very near future.

Martinez told The SWEP:

"We have got very strong core to our squad, but we need to add to that with players who bring something different. We're looking to do that with the new signings we're making and we're hopeful of finalising another three very soon."

Southend United's Mark Gower has been touted as a possible replacement for Andy Robinson who joined Leeds United last month on a free transfer. Shrimpers boss Steve Tilson is awaiting news on where the former Barnet midfielder has decided he will play next season, but has insisted the Roots Hall outfit have done everything in their power to keep the player at the club.

The third target has yet to be named but according to reports could be another foreign national.

Very exciting times. Lets hope they can all make the same impression which the signings last summer made.
