Jenkins Shuts Door On New Derby Interest in Bodde

Swansea City's stance on their evaluation of Dutchman Ferrie Bodde shows little sign of moving as Chairman Huw Jenkins reiterates the clubs position on the ongoing transfer saga.

Derby County manager Paul Jewell renewed his interest in signing the midfielder yesterday, despite three days earlier, Rams chairman Adam Pearson publicly admitting they were out of the race to sign the former ADO Den Haag player.

Bids have been tabled by the Pride Park outfit of £500,000 and £750,000 but both were rejected quickly by the club. In order to fight of any future bids for the highly rated midfielder, Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins immediately slapped a £2 million price tag on Bodde.

The former Wigan manager believes if Swansea City can be sensible in their evaluation of the player a deal could be reached but Jenkins has maintained the clubs evaluation of the player is sensible and the player will remain with the club unless a club can offer £2 million for the highly regarded midfielder.

Jenkins Told The SWEP:

"We believe we are being very sensible. While we take on board other clubs' opinions, the fact remains that Ferrie is our player and we can ask for whatever size fee we like.

2 million is not a lot when you consider Aaron Ramsey is apparently going to Arsenal for £5 million. You wonder how many games he's going to play for them, yet Ferrie could go and play at that level tomorrow, so £2 million is cheap. Our stance remains the same on Ferrie - until someone meets our valuation for him, he will not be going anywhere.'

Existing Season Ticket holders have now got till the 16th June to retain their seats for next season.
