Gomez And Pintado Complete Swansea Move

Swansea City have today completed the signings of Spanish duo Gorka Pintado and Jordi Gomez for next seasons championship campaign.

Pinatado has signed a long term performance related contract could cost the club in excess of €200,000 depending on contract add ons. Highly coveted at Grenada CF the strikers departure to a club a stones throw away from the premiership has proved a huge loss to the club in the 4th group of the Spanish Segunda B division.

Last term Pintado netted 18 goals for his former club and is a powerful striker with a good aerial ability. The Spaniard had declared the move to be the "deal of my life" just last week and the move to the Britsh game was one he simply could not turn down.

Pintado Told The SWEP:

"It was very difficult to leave Granada because of my strong relationship with the fans there but this is a great opportunity for me. It was a unique opportunity and challenge at this stage of my career. I like the British game and I think my strength will help me settle into it. I could not let this opportunity go."

It will come as a surprise to many to learn that loan signing Jordi Gomez is in fact the brother in law of Andrea Orlandi. It is that fact that has proved to be one of the main factors in securing midfielder. Gomez who has learned from some of the best players in the European game will come at a cost with the loan deal worth £200,000. The Spaniard who just signed a new deal with Espanyol that will keep him tied to the Barcelona club until June 2011, will spend the first year of that contract with Swansea City.

Gomez said:

"I have always had the idea of going into British game, it was something I really wanted to do. It was a key factor with Andrea being my brother-in-law. Since he signed I have followed the club and got attached then."

Roberto Martinez has expressed his delight at capturing the duo and has declared them championship quality and believes they are hungry for success.

Martinez Said

"I can assure you that we've captured two quality signings, they've got Championship quality written all over them.

We've been watching the two players for the last two seasons and I'm absolutely delighted we've managed to persuade them to commit to Swansea City. They are typical Swansea City players in terms of quality, skill, attitude and desire."

Martinez On Pintado:

He is a very charismatic player, a talisman and a hero out there. He has goals in his blood, a real finisher; tactically very aware, aggressive and as strong as a bull. Now he is determined to become fully attached to Swansea City and win the hearts of the fans over here."

Martinez On Gomez:

He's got great control, technical ability and never gives the ball away. Having scored 10 goals from midfield last season, he's also a clinical finisher around the box."

Meanwhile Martinez has praised former Swans defender Kevin Austin for his services to the club.
