Martinez Determined To Keep Hold Of Bodde

Martinez Determined To Keep Hold Of Bodde

Roberto Martinez still believes that Dutchman Ferrie Bodde has a future at the club despite the former Ado Den Hagg player submitting a transfer request this week.

Speculation over the future of Swansea's midfield maestro has been growing in momentum over the course of the last two weeks. Relegated premiership outfit Derby County made a bid for the Delft born player of £750,000, but the offer was rejected and the bid deemed as "laughable" by chairman Huw Jenkins.

This has not preveted the Rams from giving up their interest in the player as the Pride Park outfit look nothing but determined to get their man. They now could face stiffer competition for the signature of Bodde with Reading thought to be keen on landing the highly influential midfielder.

Martinez in the last week has indicated that the club will do everything in their power to keep Bodde at the club. However with a possible lucrative deal away from the Liberty Stadium on the cards it could prove to be a losing battle.

Martinez Told The WM:

"Ferrie has got two years left on his contract. He is a player we want to keep and we are in a position where we don't have to sell. So I don't need to talk about any offers for him. I want him to remain and I believe he will be a big part of Swansea's future.

Ferrie is a great professional and, when I saw him in Holland recently, he was happy. I told him he should be aiming to get in Holland's World Cup squad and we can help him with that. The Championship is the next test for him and I'm confident he will be a success. Our priority is to make sure Ferrie is enjoying his football so that we can get the best out of him."

In other transfer news Gorka Pintado is set to sign for Swansea City from Grenada for 200,000 euro.

Not really the right place to discuss it but to be honest most people consider him as the overpriced crap player. He has hardly featured for the first tem and when given chance his performances were rather poor. But hey, you would get him for free. We payed £250k for him :(

bodde is so over rated. he only been playin swindon and crewe. That is a poor standard. Ok britton lacks in front of goal, but as a football player he is better than bodde. leave him go, i can gurantee you 100% that he will be warming the reserves for a premiership team. Secondly robinson only plays one half, most unfit player in football league. Scored some good goals, but it is far more exicting to have new players who us supporters know nothing about, than have well established squad members. Teams in the championship wont have the foggest about these spanish players, its a mystery.
