Robinson Leaves Swansea For Leeds United

Andy Robinson will not be a Swansea City player next season after his request for more time to decide was turned down.

Club officials have been seemingly growing more and more frustrated by Robinson's attitude to negotiations and in effect have moved first to avoid any further discussions over the players future.

Talks over Robinson's new contract terms broke down over the remuneration package put on the table by Swansea City.

Robinson's agent Neil Sang has also been under severe criticism for his part in the negotiation process. It marks the final chapter in the midfeilder's Swansea City career started in 2003 when he signed from Tranmere Rovers after failing to secure a first team place. In that time Robinson has made 157 apperances and scoring 47 goals .

The Club Statement Read:

Swansea City FC are disappointed with the news today that Andy Robinson is to sign for Leeds United.

Andy, whose contract with the Club expires on 30th June, has invoked his right as a free agent to move onto pastures new. Andy asked the Club to wait until after Sunday's League One play off final for a final decision on whether he would accept our current offer to extend his contract, but the Club felt this an unrealistic request and imposed a deadline of yesterday for Andy to make his mind up. This he did, subsequently deciding to move on.

Andy leaves Swansea City with our heartfelt best wishes and with many thanks for his service to the Club and the commitment shown by him over the years that he has been at the Club.

Negotiations between the Club and Andy over a new contract began last October/November with a view to agreeing terms before the January transfer window opened. Unfortunately, despite our best endeavours, no common ground was reached. At that point, it was decided not to place Andy on the transfer list as we felt he had a great part to play in our quest for promotion. The prospect of achieving that promotion with Andy as part of the squad far outweighed any financial gain we may have realised should Andy have moved on at that point. It was also felt that having gained promotion, it would be enough to further secure Andy's services.

Negotiations have been ongoing and the latest offer, had it been accepted, would have made Andy one of the highest paid players in the History of Swansea City FC. This Club believes we should set a realistic wage structure without diluting our ambitions to take the Club to the very highest level of football.

The plan this summer was to keep every player who played a part in our promotion success and to build on that by further strengthening the squad. To that end, Roberto Martinez is currently working tirelessly to bring in the type of player that will add to the strength and character of the squad, with the aim of making Swansea City a competitive Championship Club.

Once again, we wish Andy Robinson every success in the choice he has made in this next stage of his career.

Roberto Martinez returned from Spain after his first scouting mission of the summer and is believed to have drawn up a short list. .

I think we'd be better of without him, although best of luck to Doncaster this Sunday...
come on Donny let Leeds and Robinson rot in league 1
Sad Bitter fans!
To yorkshirepride1, it's not that we are bitter, but this guy has been *****ing about over negotiations since his arrival practically. Leeds will figure this one out soon enough...
perhaps you're a little sad coming on here and posting that yorkshire, I think any Swan fan has a right to feel bitter, the way Andy and his agent have treated the negotiations is very poor form, and the cheek to say he wanted to wait to see how you got on in the play-offs before deciding which club he wanted to play for shows really that his heart isn't in playing for us, so why should we have to wait till monday for a decision...he tried to mess the club around and I think there's more than a couple of swans fans who are hoping it backfires on him... I do however wish him all the best in all his future endevours (especially if they're in league one ;))
The way of football mate, Rooney, once a blue always a blue, nxt thing he`s at Man utd. Alan Smith `I`ll never leave Leeds`, next thing Man utd....Games full of money grabbers! No loyalty, suppose we`ll find out like you say, and yes i am sad...but i don`t care! :)
on the plus side, if you don't manage promotion, at least you'll have a decent league one winger with a cracking free-kick, just don't let him take your penalties!
A good day for all at the club. A player who clearly thinks he's a lot better than he actually is. Leeds have signed an unfit one trick pony for 12k a week. Thanks lads ! Maybe now Marcos painter may get the ball during a game !
He does look a fat sod!
You lot seem to be really *****ed off considering he's such a bad player lol Welcome to Leeds United Andy
SkyDave Leeds Fan
the swans have got the best they can out of robbo he won't be as well looked after at leeds and loved and his game will go down the pan and his weight will pille on
he almost moved to cardiff last year so much for kissing the badge when he scores i would not let him kiss my ass
Leeds United's new signing Andy Robinson says he is delighted to be moving to a "massive club"
you can't compare those moves with this one. they joined one of the biggest clubs in the world, playing in the champs league every season and in the top 2 of the premiership, they couldn't get that with everton or leeds. i've always felt for the past 2 years he's been using us as a stepping stone and waiting for his chance to move on to something bigger. i'm not dissapointed at all, he's more of an impact player to us and offers no width on the left wing at all.
Glad he's gone, it also shows he'll have no heart for Leeds as he wouldn't join them if they didn't get promoted, come on Donny
Was`nt comparing the moves i was comparing the players so called loyalty. But hes Leeds now and we`ll live with it. And as for come on Donny, support who you like its a free country we know you hate us (yawn)...perhaps focus your energy elsewhere now, you were worthy champions, now get over us!
He's moved to a BIGGER Club.................

***** off Fatty!!!
^^ LOL
On the off chance that Robbo does get a game for you in the Camps if you make it you will really suffer, your left back will be under constant bombardment as Robbo doesn't know how to cover in defence to save his life, if he plays from the start you will be forced to make a change at half time because he will be missing his afternoon pie, if he aint getting the ball he will come looking for it and then not pass it to anybody even if they are 100% guarenteed to score, if he takes a penalty he will go to his top left corner which if any keeper has done his homework will be saved. Good luck to him but I have to say I really hope Donny do win the final just because of the way that he has conducted himself. Maybe we could see you at the liberty in the FA Cup or something and then see how dear Robbo is doing!
jack hammers
If however Leeds don't make the Championship, I wouldn't like to be the one (no actually I would) to tell AR that he can't have a bigger wage packet.
ye maybe you should invest in Ashley Cole or something because you need a brilliant left back if your gonna have fatty out on the left or more like wandering into the center and the right when hes supposed to be on the left
What a difference a few days make, last week desperate to keep him...... now its good riddance to bad rubbish........ make up your minds and stop whinging....... sorry thats a welsh trait along with Sheep, Wellies and Singing......
Tiny T
I don't bemoan anyone the chance to improve their career. Robbo han't done this so it purely is a money issue.
When he was playing for you he was a hero, now suddenly he`s *****, yep maybe he`s a fickle player but no more than the fickle fan at your club!
he was never a hero in my eyes, as points have allready been raised I wont raise them all again, only the fact that he cant last a game, was allways an impact player and if you play him from the start you will have to sub him not long after half time because he cannot hack the pace! 9k a week for half a player, I'm glad he has gone to you because he would have been a drain sitting on our bench for that amount of money!
jack hammers
Yawn, Yawn, Yawn, all getting very BORING, without him last season and his goals would you have gone up.....DOUBTFUL
Tiny T
Tiny T - am guessing your a Leeds fan, we were saying the same thing all season (yawn yawn yawn) about your 15 points that we "unlawfully" taken from you even though TWO panels seem to think there was nothing wrong with the deduction! How do you like what you were dishing out all season?
jack hammers
1st of all, well done to Doncaster, i was backing them simply because i believe the team that finishes 3rd deserves to be the 3rd team promoted. As for Robbo, i can understand him saying he wants to be closer to Liverpool but like many other supporters i am dissapointed with the way he and his agent have handled the situation. Swansea's policiy of offering new contracts to players this late on needs tovstop! it'll cist us too many good players!
Swansea have to means to attract a good replacement for Robinson now anyway!
When you get some good players let us know..........
Tiny T
we'll get better ones than you don't you worry at a fraction of the costs you'll be playing this summer.
