Tate Urges Robinson To Sign On

Alan Tate has urged out of contract midfielder Andy Robinson to stay at the club despite mounting speculation that the former Tranmere Rovers player is set for pastures new.

Negotiations between Robinson and the club have broken down over the midfielder's remuneration package, added to mix is a ten day deadline given to the scouser to make up his mind by manager Roberto Martinez. Other Championship clubs are said to been keen on signing the Birkenhead born player.

Robinson has firmly expressed a desire to stay with the club but so long as the contract stand-off remains the likely hood of a settlement being reached grows ever distant.

It has left Alan Tate urging the midfielder to stay. The defender has paid high compliment to his team mate and firmly believes that the under fire player will stay at the club for next seasons championship campaign.

Tate Told The SWEP:

''As a team-mate and as a friend, Andy has been fantastic.I can't pay him any higher compliment than to say he is a great lad who's good in the dressing room, and he's a very good player whose goal record speaks for itself."

'Because of what he brings to the team and who he is, I really hope he stays I don't know whether he'll stay because I don't know what his reasons for not signing are.He came from non-league football and the club took a chance on him."

'It's a good story, but that was a long time ago now and he doesn't owe the club anything just like they don't owe him anything.I hope Robbo stays - we all do - and I think he wants to stay too"

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez is also thought to have started in earnest his scouting mission in Europe to strengthen the squad for next season.
