Birmingham And Reading Join Swansea In CCC

Swansea City will play host to Birmingham City and Reading next season as both sides were relegated from the premier league this afternoon.

Steve Copplle's side secured a 4-0 win against Derby County , it would be scant consolation for the Berkshire club as they were sent crashing out of the Premier league. The Royals had not scored a goal in six league games before today and its that absence of goal scoring threat that has been the Madejski Stadium clubs downfall.

Swansea will now be looking to avenge the 1-0 loss to Reading in the second round of the Carling Cup this season. Swansea City have found the hunting ground of the Madejski a difficult one, in the last meeting between the two sides away to reading on the 23rd August 2005, the royals downed Swansea 3-1 to secure their place in the second round of the Carling Cup.At the beginning of 2005 Swansea Could only a manage a 1-1 draw to the Berkshire club. Taken out of their hands a headed Danny Murphy goal consigned Reading to relegation from the top flight.

Meanwhile Birmingham have been relegated this afternoon but have flirted with relegation all season and finally paid the cost for their inconsistent results. Not even former Scotland manager Alex McLeish could work replicate his magic touch to help the Blues avoid the drop to the Championship. Birmingham ended their season in the premiership with a 1-1 draw against Blackburn.
