Butler Pens New Swansea Deal

Thomas Butler is the latest out of contract player to pen a new performance related deal with the club .

Butler at the outset of last season could be forgiven for thinking that this may be his last season with the Liberty Stadium club. His cause was strengthened by fine performances in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, after injury's to Andy Robinson and Leon Britton the former Hartlepool player certainly seized his chance.

Growing from strength to strength Butler staked his claim for a first team place . Making forty two appearances this season , the winger has been one of the most consistent performers for the club and has earned rave reviews from fans and pundits alike.

Restating his belief that the Irish man has premiership class Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez, has declared that Butler is a far more mature player last term and it is a huge bonus that the club have a player of such versatility.

Martinez Told The SWEP

'Tom has been a very consistent performer this season. He had his best campaign for the club last season and to have someone who can play on the left or right with the same effectiveness is a huge bonus and asset."

Tom is desperate to return to the level (Premier League) he reached with Sunderland and I'm delighted he'll be trying to do that with Swansea City. He's a better and more mature player than when he first arrived at the club. He's extremely talented and full of skill - we've all seen that this season.

I've no doubt that Tom is a player of Premier League standard and I'm delighted he's committed himself to the club.'

Crewe shot stopper Owain fon Williams is being linked with a move to the club after the future of David Knight has become less than certain.

Butler replaced Robinson in the last game against Brighton and really did very well. Looking forward to him reproducing that same form in the Championship.
