Robinson Contract Talks Stalled?

Contract negotiations with Andy Robinson have hit a stalling point as speculation mounts over the midfielder's future.

Robinson is one of eleven players yet to sign contracts for next season and has been rumoured to have been approached by other clubs. Negotiations over his contract extension over a year ago hit problems after the former Tranmere Rovers man wanted a significant pay increase.

It is thought that Robinson's agent Neil Sang and the club are far from agreement. Scoring 10 goals so far this term the midfielder has come under some criticism this season but despite the vocal dissent Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez has made it clear that he wants the player to stay with the club for next seasons Championship campaign.

Martinez Told The SWEP

'Swansea City have made it quite clear that we want Andy to stay and Andy has also made it clear that he wants to stay.I'm sure his agent is talking to other clubs, but I would like to think that Andy isn't.

No club knows Andy like we do and he doesn't know any club the way he knows us.He has a huge new challenge ahead of him in the Championship and I know exactly what he needs next season to make sure he closes in on his dream of playing Premier League football.

But it's his decision. We will never try to sign players who are not committed to the club and he must sign for the right reasons.Andy's best years are still ahead of him and I'm hopeful he'll spend them with us.Negotiations can take longer than you would hope, but Andy has to be happy and so do we. Hopefully, it will all be sorted before the end of May.'

Meanwhile Paul Anderson has hinted that his future next season will be away from the Liberty Stadium.

This happened last time, let him go if he's not happy with the deal put in front of him

There is a maximum that the club can pay within their wage structure. If Robinson is requesting more than the limit, then he should be told to leave. This went on a long time last year and Robinson should be given a deadline to accept or the offer to be withdrawn. The deadline is necessary to give us time to get a replacement.

Hopefully the big man will stay but the club is bigger than any player. Anyone remember LT10. He left and look where we are now!
