Duffy Set To Leave Swansea City ?

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez has hinted that Darryl Duffy could be set to leave the club this summer, as the former Hull City player has attracted interest from League One clubs

Bristol Rovers are thought to be the front runners in the bid to secure his services. Since his permanent switch goals have been very hard to come by for the former Scottish Under-21 international. In part he has been overshadowed by club top scorer Jason Scotland , Spaniard Guillem Bauza and Fabien Brandy.

In what must have been considered as one of the most interesting transfer sagas in Swansea City history Duffy`s permanent move was compelling if not at times infuriating for Martinez.

Initially Hull City under former Chairman Adam Pearson wanted in the region of £500,000 for the former Rangers trainee. Suitors including Swansea City were not prepared to shell out such a sum for a player who had not been able to break into the first team at Hull. Pearson had come under enormous criticism from both Swansea and Hull fans alike.

Huw Jenkins and Roberto Martinez have worked patiently and vigorously to secure Duffy`s services.

Their patience did pay of and the striker signed on last summer on the back of a successful loan spell with the club. In that spell Duffy scored 5 goals in 5 games, this record would not be repeated.

Scoring only three goals this term the striker has found opportunities limited. Martinez has discussed the likelihood of a move for the player.

Martinez Told The SWEP:

"There has been some interest in Darryl from a couple of teams in League One and we are going to study all the options. Sometimes it's important you realise that for the benefit of the player and Swansea City, you need a new challenge."

'But nothing is going to be done or settled until we have got a clear situation on the table, and there's nothing concrete at the moment. We all know Darryl's a goal scorer, but probably the pattern we've played didn't go in his favour."

"We've been delighted with his attitude, but playing alongside Lee Trundle got the best out of him and since he left it's been hard for Darryl to be himself."

More departures are expected over the next month.

LT10 was able to control the ball and lay it off to Duffy and they were a cood combination. Scotland's first touch is non-existant and was not able to lay-off any ball - Bauza and Brandy also suffered. Bauza's control is far better and I preferred Duffy to Brandy. I cannot recall a Bauza/Duffy pertnership?
