'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jenkins Fully Expected Leeds Outcome

Swansea City Chairman Huw Jenkins has admitted that he fully expected that the arbitration panel would uphold the football leauge's decision,to impose a 15 point penalty on Leeds United due to a breach of insolvency rules.

If Leeds United were awarded the full 15 points back it would have left Swansea needing a win to seal the leauge one title against Brighton this coming weekend.

As it stands Jenkins and club officials will be contacting the football leauge to organise the cup hand over. Now all obstacles have been removed that trophy presentation could take place on Saturday afternoon.

According to the local businessman , it was the right decision and protecting the interests of all the football clubs in the leauge had to be the main priority.

Jenkins has also taken time to praise his manager and is firmly looking forward to the challenges facing the club next season in the Championship.

Jenkins Told BBC Wales:

"It has dragged on a bit.

The important issues were protecting the interests of everybody else...and the credibility of the Football League. It's great for the fans as well as recognition of all the hard work that's gone in since we took charge. To get to that point (promotion to the second tier of English football), we've achieved what we set out to do.'

'Since Roberto Martinez has taken charge, he has nearly averaged two points a game so I think that speaks highly of what he has achieved as a manager and we are delighted to be in this position and we look forward to next season.'

Swansea have now been ratified as League One champions.

If people were so sure we wouldn't have been speaking about it so much, very easy not to be surprised after the fact.

Its just a shame it couldn't have been sorted a week earlier then you could have got the trophy in front of your fans.
