Swansea City Boss Roberto Martinez has quashed any rumours that the future of Dutchman Ferrie Bodde lies away from the Liberty Stadium club.
Signed from then Eredivisie club Ado Den Hagg for a fee around £85,000, the player earned an immediate reputation for his no nonsense brand of football. Arguably Bodde is one of the best midfielders in league one this season, but missed out on a place in the Professional Football Association L1 team of the season last week.
Unfounded Rumours have been circulating that the player has been unsettled in Swansea , but that has not stopped Martinez to be very quick to stem the tide of transfer rumours that inevitably surface as the season comes to a close. Stressing that Bodde is content at the club the Spaniard has effectively warned off potential bids for the midfield maestro come this summer as he prepares for a season in the Championship.
Since Bodde has arrived on British shores, the Delft born player has taken the new challenge of British football, in his stride, something that his manager Roberto Martinez alludes too.
Martinez Told The SWEP:
| "You see Ferrie on the pitch and I think you can draw your own conclusions from the way he performs there." "Ferrie has adapted to the British game really well and he is enjoying his football. I think he needs another challenge next season - but he will get that with us." "I don't think another season in League One would have been healthy for Ferrie. He needs the challenge of the Championship and he is looking forward to it." ."I look at Ferrie in training and on the pitch and he transmits great happiness. He is a winner and a great professional and Swansea City can be very happy with his feelings." He's desperate to play and he's worked really hard to try to get back before the end of the season, but I'll be happy for him to have a good break and make sure he comes back with no problems in pre-season." |
