Martinez Confident Robinson Will Pen New Deal

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez sounds confident that midfielder Andy Robinson will sign a new contract in the Summer.

Along with 12 other players - Alan Tate, Tom Butler, Dennis Lawrence, Kris O'Leary, Kevin Austin, Guillem Bauza, Owain Tudur Jones, David Knight, Shaun MacDonald, Garry Monk, Scott Evans and Steve Watt, Robinson is out of contract at the end of this season.

Martinez has said how he doesn't want a repeat of last year when deals weren't sorted early for those who were out of contract.

Most of those players are likely to be offered new deals and I think maybe 2 or 3 will be released come June.

In an exclusive interview with Vital Swansea, Roberto told us that he wants a minimum of 2 defenders plus a player for each position (defence, midfield and attack.)

The Spaniard has also pointed how certain areas need to be improved for next season in the Championship.

Martinez told the Evening Post:

'Everyone knows about the relationship between Andy Robinson and Swansea City,'

'Every time you are out of contract there are certain negotiations which have to go on.

'But in my eyes it's now about sitting down and finalising things with Andy and I believe everything will be done before our last game of the season at Brighton.

'We have made it clear to Andy that we want him to stay and I see him playing for Swansea City for many years to come.'

I thought it was already a done deal. Hope he signs. Can get rid of Austin mind. He is for sure not good enough for the championship.
