Bodde In Fitness Race For Brighton

Dutch midfield maestro Ferrie Bodde is in a race to be fit for the last league game of the season against Brighton next week.

Bodde has been sidelined with a groin strain since the 2-2 draw against Bristol Rovers on the 24th March.Paying compliment to his player Roberto Martienz has praised the former ADO Den Haag player for his sheer persistence and determination to get back to the promotion party.

Assessment will be made to assertain if the push for fitness will cause more harm than good to Bodde. With two games of the season remaining and promotion already in the bag it is looking likely that Bodde will not kick a ball in anger until the start of next season.

Signing for a fee around £80,000 from Dutch club Ado Den Haag in the summer , the midfielder has been a instant hit with fans and has earned a reputation for his tough tackling. Not that it has phased him as he has taken to the British game like a duck to water .

Martinez told the WM:

'Ferrie is already out. He is pushing really hard for Brighton but we'll have to assess whether it is worth it or not. It is very important that he has a good break because playing too many games is the reason he picked up the injury. But it's great to see the determination he has shown to be involved before the season ends. It speaks volumes about the player, he is a fighter and that is the sort of character you want at your football club.'

Bodde certainly is a candidate for player of the season despite his injury lay off .

Is it worth it? If he's fit great then he'll play but it is not worth risking anything. If he's a doubt then give him a long rest and get him back fit and ready for our first go in the championship.
