Monk: Leeds Situation Is Ridiculous

Swansea City skipper Garry Monk has criticised the Football League for the current situation regarding Leeds United.

The Elland Road club were deducted 15 points at the start of the season and they are now appealing to get those points back.

With a decision yet to be made until next month, the Swans aren't officially title holders as Leeds could win the Championship if they get all 15 points back.

Still, Martinez, the squad, the fans and everyone else associated with the club celebrated on the weekend. Despite losing at home to Yeovil, we won the title as Southend beat Carlisle - maintaining our 7-point gap at the top with just 2 games to play.

Garry Monk along with many others doesn't think Leeds will get all 15 points back, he told the Evening Post:

''I just can't see them getting 15 points, but I can't believe we still don't know for sure at this stage of the season.

''It's ridiculous that it hasn't been sorted out, but I think they have prolonged it to May 1 for a reason.

''I think they want to see where other teams are and what points they've got and then they'll make a decision on Leeds.

''I think they might get some points back, but I think it will depend on what other teams are on and I think they've been quite clever about it.

''I think that's the way they are going to go because I can't see why else they would have left it so late.''

''If we were in Leeds's position, we'd be saying we'd won the points on the pitch and we'd be trying to get them back.

''But to leave it to this stage of the season, when so many teams are involved in different situations, is ridiculous.

''It takes some of the edge off our celebrations and the Leeds thing is on our mind. The main thing is promotion and that is guaranteed.

''But we want to win the title as well. As it stands we have won it, but we will have to wait and see in the next couple of weeks whether we have.''

Monk is fit again after missing the last few months with a back problem. He was on the bench on Saturday but will be hoping to make a first team appearance before the end of the season.

You`ve missed out one important bit that he said- ''If we were in Leeds's position, we'd be saying we'd won the points on the pitch and we'd be trying to get them back. ''But to leave it to this stage of the season, when so many teams are involved in different situations, is ridiculous. ...Very true, Leeds had every right to appeal its the case in any legal process....the farce is the way the football league have handled things, could`ve been sorted months ago, then everybody would have known where they stand, and points back or not we would have all accepted it!

you wont get 15 back so keep dreaming of winning the title.
KevinE
Then what are you lot and all your players crying about then?
yorkshirepride1
yorkshirepride1, your missing one vital point. 15 points back to you and you still won't overtake us. FACT! So stop your crying, quit your cheating and get on with playing football.
welshboy78
If we had our 15 points back we would be 1 behind you and we both have two matches to play FACT! Exactly how did Leeds cheat? You are ignorant of the facts. Stop moaning and get on with your celebrating!

2 YP1 & TinyT: I can understand you feel hurt by the point deduction but I think I'm not speaking for myself only if I say that your never ending complaining about it and the tireless attempts to draw the attention to 'your case' annoys people more and more. I'm afraid you're not gonna win much more symphaties this way. Why don't you just let it be, leave us alone and wait for the verdict?

If teams like yours had voted with there heads instead of trying to stop a fellow Club from competing on the same footing as everyone else. But small teams like yours took the oppotunity to Cheat yourway to a 15 point start. If you win the title by 14 points we all know who the REAL Champions should have been.
Tiny T
