Swansea City skipper Garry Monk has criticised the Football League for the current situation regarding Leeds United.
The Elland Road club were deducted 15 points at the start of the season and they are now appealing to get those points back.
With a decision yet to be made until next month, the Swans aren't officially title holders as Leeds could win the Championship if they get all 15 points back.
Still, Martinez, the squad, the fans and everyone else associated with the club celebrated on the weekend. Despite losing at home to Yeovil, we won the title as Southend beat Carlisle - maintaining our 7-point gap at the top with just 2 games to play.
Garry Monk along with many others doesn't think Leeds will get all 15 points back, he told the Evening Post:
| ''I just can't see them getting 15 points, but I can't believe we still don't know for sure at this stage of the season. ''It's ridiculous that it hasn't been sorted out, but I think they have prolonged it to May 1 for a reason. ''I think they want to see where other teams are and what points they've got and then they'll make a decision on Leeds. ''I think they might get some points back, but I think it will depend on what other teams are on and I think they've been quite clever about it. ''I think that's the way they are going to go because I can't see why else they would have left it so late.'' ''If we were in Leeds's position, we'd be saying we'd won the points on the pitch and we'd be trying to get them back. ''But to leave it to this stage of the season, when so many teams are involved in different situations, is ridiculous. ''It takes some of the edge off our celebrations and the Leeds thing is on our mind. The main thing is promotion and that is guaranteed. ''But we want to win the title as well. As it stands we have won it, but we will have to wait and see in the next couple of weeks whether we have.'' |
