Swansea City defender Ashley Williams has expressed his disappointment of not making his début for his new club at the weekend.
Signed from Stockport County on loan till the end of the season with a permanent move on the cards , Williams will have to put his début on hold as he could only watch on as Swansea notched up another three points to their promotion kitty with a 3-1 win at Hartlepool United.
The Defender could smash the club transfer record in the summer with a fee of anywhere in the region of £350,000 being touted. Luton Town have already seen their £500,000 bid for the highly rated Welsh international turned down by the Edgeley Park side.
The price tag will not be as great should Swansea gain promotion from leauge one due to the increased revenue generated in the Championship in Broadcast Fees , prize money and other lucrative investments.
Not that Williams will be concerning himself with such matters, the 23 year old has offered nothing but positive remarks for his new manager and teamates and praised them for their warm welcome.
Williams Told The SWEP:
| ''I was a little bit disappointed not to play but I don't think the gaffer could really play me when the boys have been doing so well and I understand that.' 'The boys at the back played really well in difficult conditions here. The wind and the rain didn't make life easy for defenders but I thought they were brilliant.' 'You couldn't fault them really, and that's probably the way they've been all season.'The lads have made me feel really welcome and I feel part of it already.I wasn't expecting to go straight into the side because the players already here have done so well to get where they are.' 'I've just come in to try to enjoy myself and to try to get into the team. The manager hasn't really talked to me about how much I might play, so I'll have to see how things go.' He was a massive pull for me. All the reports I've heard about him were good and Swansea are a massive club who are going well at the moment. |
