Carlisle United have not given up their title challenge despite dropping two points against Gillingham yesterday afternoon declares Cumbrians manager John Ward .
Carlisle United have one of the best home records in league one and will prove a stern test for the visit of fifth placed Nottingham Forest, who have failed to meet expectations this season. In the coming weeks Carlisle with have further examinations to their title credentials when Ward's men face Swansea City on the 8th April , which surely will see where the destination of the league one title will be. Visits by Yeovil Town, Southend United, Millwall and AFC Bournemouth round off the run in for the Brunton Park outfit.
Statisticians, fans , managers and pundits up and down the country will be looking at all the permutations in the next three or so games that will concrete league positions. Ward will feel confident in securing automatic promotion but a late title surge may prove a bridge to far in what has been a sensational season for the club.
Roberto Martinez's side will be more than confident in adding a trophy to the Liberty Stadium trophy cabinet at the end of play on the 3rd May. Overall it will be no more than the South Wales club deserve with a dominance that has seen many a rival manager declare "Swansea are the best in the league" it will come as no surprise that the title could be sown up with games to spare.
Not deterred by Swasnsea's good run of form Ward still believes that Martinez's side can be caught.
Ward Said:
| "I'm trying to chase Swansea and that's what I'm saying to the lads." "We have dug in and put on a show which shows that we are determined to stay in the race." "It is really down to three clubs for those two places now and we're trying to get hold of Swansea if we can." |
