Martinez: 'It's A Point Gained'

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez said yesterday's 1-1 draw at Southend was a point gained.

Jason Scotland added to his ever-growing goal tally from the penalty spot but Kanu cancelled it out late into first half injury time.

Despite taking the lead, Martinez said it was a point gained:

"At this stage of the season it`s a point gained. Roots Hall is a very difficult place to come. Southend, in the type of form that they are in, are a very difficult team to play.

"You have to remember that we played last Saturday and on Tuesday as well and at this stage of the season the energy is a huge factor and, under these circumstances, I thought the boys applied themselves well.

"Our approach is exactly the same although there are eight games left. There are big challenges at home and away and we look forward to every one.

"As a club, we keep trying to progress in certain departments and that`s what we are doing."

Martinez mentioned their busy schedule and it continues as they face Bristol Rovers again on Monday, kick off is at 5:45pm and it'll be shown live on Sky Sports.
