Jones Arrested After Tunnel Bust Up

Jones Arrested After Tunnel Bust Up

Swansea City's win over Bristol Rovers was marred by an altercation in the tunnel following the final whistle at the Memorial Ground,as Assistant Manager Graham Jones was arrested.

In a tense end to the game which saw on loan striker Fabien Brandy sent off following a two footed challenge on Danny Coles. It is thought that Jones had clashed with Coles as tempers boiled over and Swansea City's assistant manager arrested on site and taken away by Somerset and Avon police for further questioning.

Rovers Defender Coles did not sustain any major injury following the clash needing treatment only for a split lip.

Released from police custody pending further investigation Jones returned to Swansea last night. An official statement has been released by the South Wales club following the incident.

The Press Statement read:

''The club can confirm that an incident occurred in the tunnel after the game at the Memorial Stadium involving players and staff from both sides."

Swansea City's assistant-manager Graeme Jones was involved, but after being questioned by the Avon and Somerset Police was released last night pending further investigations."

Graeme and the club have cooperated fully with the police over the matter and a further statement will be issued in due course. The two clubs are in constant dialogue and no further statements will be made until the matter has been fully investigated.''

It is not the first time Swansea City have had to respond to an arrest at a game. Willy Gueret was arrested by Greater Manchester police at Bury.

Had the ref sent off both Brandy AND Coles, this would probably have not happened. Apparently we were frustrated that only our player has been punished for the bust up.

Why should coles be sent off, Brandy made the bad challenge and was rightly sent off, they go on about Swansea hooligans and the managers are doing the same

Wasnt Coles throwing punches after the challenge and grabbing Coles by the neck? a sending off offence for sure.

You obviously weren't there. I was at Bristol and Coles should of been sent off for retaliating. He threw punches at Brandy and got away with it. He then started mouthing at Jones, so Jones sorting him out like he said he would.
