Jackett: Hails Lions After Shock Win

Kenny Jackett returned to the Liberty Stadium yesterday in the hope of securing a memorable win against his former employers, and he would not go back to London disappointed.

Millwall got off to a dream start when striker Lewis Grabbam took full advantage of a defensive mix up by Alan Tate and Kristian O Leary. Ali Fuseini's deep cross evaded everyone except Grabbam as he sent a towering header goal ward and past Dorus De Vries.

It would be another lapse by Captain Alan Tate that was to deal a further blow to Swansea City when the former Manchester United man headed the ball straight towards Dorus De Vries with Jay Simpson in close quarters. On loan from Arsenal Simpson took full advantage and coolly slotted the ball past De Vries much to the jubilation of the 142 travelling Lions fans.

Swansea City were given a lifeline when Fabien Brandy was clattered to the floor unceremoniously by Ali Fuseini. Jason Scotland stepped up and made no mistake to bring the South Wales side back into the game.
It would be in vain as the London club held on for a crucial win to see them put some distance between themselves and the looming relegation places.

Kenny Jackett has praised his Squad after securing a vital 3 points to see the New Den outfit pull clear of the relegation places.

He Spoke on Millwall's official site.:

"'We played very well, this was the best performance since I have come to Millwall. We were very disciplined, strong and had a real determined look about us."

Hopefully this is something we can build on. At times our midfield has not been strong enough this season, but we were dogged and strong tonight.'

We can't afford to sit back though and hopefully this is something to build on. We have got a game at Yeovil on Tuesday and whilst this is a very good victory that we deserved, we have to focus on the next match now.'

Millwall will now travel to Huish Park to face Yeovil on Tuesday night whilst Swansea host Tranmere Rovers.
