"Jackett Deserves A Good Reception"

Captain Garry Monk has signalled a rallying call to the Swansea City faithful to put aside any ill feeling towards former Manager Kenny Jackett and give the Millwall boss a good reception.

Jackett left the club in 2007 by mutual consent after the 1-0 loss to Oldham Athletic on the 10th February 2007 after mounting criticism from Swansea City fans.

The former Manchester City reserve team manager's return has been relished by Swansea City fans ever since his appointment at Millwall back in October 2007.

In what could prove a highly intriguing tactical battle between Kenny Jackett and former charge Roberto Martinez the objectives could not be more polar, for Millwall a win would offer The Lions a vital lifeline in the bid for league one survival. For Swansea another win would see the club go 14 points clear which could prove an insurmountable hurdle.

Millwall currently sit only 1 point off the drop zone with Gillingham having two games in hand over the Lions in 21st place come Saturday morning.
Despite his poor record at The New Den , Jackett's record with Swansea City had been one of the best in recent times. It also secured promotion , a league cup triumph over Carlisle United and two FAW Cup wins.

It is that record Garry Monk hopes fans remember and not the acrimonious end to his tenure at the club.

He Told SWEP:

"'I think Kenny deserves a good reception.I don't know if the fans ever really gave him their full backing during his time here, but I think the job he did put us on the road to success."

If you look at his record compared to those of other managers at this club down the years, it's a lot better than a lot of them. You can't ignore that and I think it would be very harsh if he was to get booed."

He did a lot of good things for this club and he deserves a decent welcome in return. The players have talked about it. We've all said the same thing, and I think the majority of fans will appreciate the job that he did.."

Swansea City could go 14 points clear at the top of league one tommow evening..

Can't see why he won't get a good reception, he did well for us, could be different if he gets in the way of our promotion push though
