Richie: Swansea One Of The Best

Richie: Swansea One Of The Best

Swansea City continued their unstoppable assault on promotion to the championship and broke the club record for an unbeatable away run into the bargain, with a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town this afternoon.

It marked the first win away to Huddersfield Town since the 1992/93 season . Jason Scotland broke the deadlock just before the break when Alan Tate sent the ball goal ward after a Ferrie Bodde corner which Scotland fired in from close range. It was to be a unhappy Saint David's day for the terriers Welsh defender Robert Page after picking up his second bookable offence was sent off.

Roberto Martinez was also dealt a potentially huge injury blow as Scotland sustained a suspected broken toe following a attacking move which saw the Trinidad striker go close to sending the league leaders 2-0 up.

Treatment was administered to the Scotland before being stretchered off.

The 1-0 loss to Swansea City has left Terriers manager Andy Ritchie bitterly disappointed and has criticised referee Michael Oliver's decision to dismiss Robert Page.

Richie also has praised Roberto Martinez's citing the South Wales club as one of the best sides he has seen in this division all season long.

He Told Huddersfield's official site:

"'I thought the referee was a little bit harsh with the sending off. The ball bounced up and it looked like Scotland handballed it to get on the wrong side of Rob (Page). After staying on his feet, he went down pretty easily."

I'm sure that Roberto would agree that this was a hard game for them; even in the first-half we had some good things that flashed across the box. However, I'm not convinced that we really wanted to score badly enough in the second-half. I thought that a challenge from Darren Pratley when Beckett was about to head the ball in epitomised how much they wanted to keep the ball out of their net and perhaps their desire was a little bit stronger than ours. "

Swansea are among the best teams in the league and they showed that by the way that they passed the ball about in the first-half. "

Swansea also suffered another injury concern with Andy Robinson taking a knock to his knee. Roberto Martinez and the Squad will now jet off to Spain for a season break and return to face Kenny Jackett's Millwall side struggling to get out of the bottom half of the table.

we're digging deep and grinding out wins even with the injury problems to our defence. as monk said not long ago, its the points that count now not the performances.
